Shiny Mind. Shiny Head. (Video)

I love my life. I go to bed happy, dream happy things, wake up happy and then have a happy time happily carrying out happy tasks, before I repeat that whole happy process the next happy day.

If I could bottle this, I’d happily give it away to everyone in the world – even Rupert Murdoch.

The great thing is, you don’t need that… you already carry the magic formula within you, and you just have to recognise it’s there for it to begin working.

My life has changed so much for the better, but that hasn’t come about from reading a library of books on enlightenment, sitting in a dark room, chin-on-fist, pondering the workings of the Universe, or even through extensive treatment with electro-shock therapy…

… it’s our natural state of being, when we recognise that the things we allow our minds to obsess on and worry about aren’t actually important at all.

Bobby McFerrin was right…

You make me laugh so much. It's great to see you happy, and you're lovely when you smile.

  4. You look like you are about to burst into tears, lol. What's wrong? Better to be honest about how you are feeling. It would be very unusual, impossible, to be happy all the time, no matter how spiritual you are. Perhaps easier if you avoid challenging situations and have withdrawn from society, but even then. I'm not meaning to be harsh, just trying to help a fellow human being that I suspect is still in an element of turmoil. Maybe your blog readers might help you, a two way process so to speak. Everyone has something to give! To think that you know it all, and there is nothing more you need to do, nothing more to learn, is a touch arrogant, particularly when there are many unavoidable challenging situations in life that require specific advice.

    THANKS Les... ;)

  6. Thanks, Laura! Hehe - it looked like I'd polished the top of my head with car wax before I pressed the record button. :-)

  8. Oh, Anon... thanks for the concern, but I can say without any arrogance whatsoever that I actually am happy all of the time.

I am guessing that this may have been the first blog you've seen from me? :-P

The Sun was shining very brightly, yesterday - when I recorded myself in full Sunlight, the contrast was too bright, and it was too low in the shade... so I used the Sunlight bouncing from one of my upstairs windows to illuminate me and found a workable middle-ground.

If you open the video to full size, you can see the reflection of that dazzling light in the left (right to you) of my corneas.

    I'm squinting, not frowning. :-P

It's true that, two years ago, I was withdrawn from society - but it certainly wasn't a better situation for me.

Now, I'm very much alive, living and part of life. :-)

I'm not in the habit of lying to myself or anyone else about how I feel, and yesterday was an absolutely wonderful day.

So, while your suspicions were very wrong, I do appreciate your words of care. :-)

If you have a look through some of the other blogs, you may be able to see more clearly how and why I'm happy. ;-)

    Cheers,

    Les

  11. Played a bit of Bobby McFerrin today, danced with my son and smiled widely. Appreciating the little things is what it's all about.

  12. Got the sound this time. Very nice. Down to earth, approachable, but the "stroking my pussy" was a little bit…Intentional subtexty? I never can tell because I'm missing the sarcasm gene, and that affects other perceptions as well.

  13. No! It was a statement of fact! Maybe a little tongue in cheek, though, but I was very clearly stroking him. :-)

  14. Aww Les, with video posts like this, it doesn't surprise me that you get so many hits (Congratulations btw! Proud of u my friend :D ) I'm so inspired and feel injected with optimism when I watch this! Sharing your happiness and love for life is so refreshing when much of what we watch these days is gloom-orientated :( I love hearing people talk about positive things...I mean when someone is in a bad mood, or sad, they talk about it, "Oh, I've had such a bad day, the weather was rubbish etc..." so why not have people tell others when they're happy! It's lovely to hear about so thank you for lighting up my morning with Lessism magic! I totally dig the captions too- you're so funny :D Lovely personality, lovely smile, lovely friend! Best wishes and love from your poet pal Mel XXX

  15. I also meant to say how I really think its awesome how you give us the message that happiness is totally achievable for everyone, when we refocus our minds. I totally understand and relate to the dangers of over-dwelling- this post was so applicable to me...One for the favourites for sure! XXX

  16. Aw, hehehe... thank you, Mel! I'm glad you could sense the peace, despite the frown, and didn't think I was going to burst into tears like an earlier commenter suggested. ;-)

Thank you for your lovely words, and I'm really pleased my own are useful to you. :-) xx

  17. Well, I loved it almost as much as I do you, who are a breath of fresh air for us who are more jaded, or worn out by all of the negativity in the world. I think your face is changing, by the by. More structural than before, my Manfox friend!

  18. Thanks, Sidney! Yeah, the face is going to change a lot over the last five weeks of the manfoxification exercise, I guess. I've have cheekbones and muscles to show off. Glad you enjoyed the vid! :-) x

  19. Les, I wasn't too far from where you were 2 years ago. But things are better here 2. No videos yet of me... One of my sweet darling dearly missed Alexandria on my blog tho.... But you're right, happiness is possible every day. Some of us just have to work a bit at it. Your kitties are gorgeous and hopefully better behaved than mine! Thanks for the video & BTW what is manfoxification?

  20. I love the video, the beginning is so funny. Yes you're right, happiness is our natural state of being :)

  21. 21 THOUSAND hits?! That's epic! And fantastic! And I'm totally jealous! Lol - I'm where you were (the brilliant 500 hits/month). But one of these days, I'll look forward to the 21,000.

And the fact that you're happy every day...I know what that's like:) It's awesome isn't it? It's awesome to know that you have chosen to better yourself and your life, Les!

    Cheers:)
