Sunday, April 1st – which I believe is March Fool’s Day, here in England – will be the day when a small minority of people following me wonder whether the end of the world has actually come, because I’m going to be taking a break from blogging for a long while and that also means the automated tweets will be stopping.
This isn’t even an advanced March Fool’s Day joke, so those of you who look forward to the bliss of browsing Twitter without seeing my moody, black and white face popping up in their timeline every 3.24 seconds can actually start the countdown to your celebrations with confidence.
I would really like to pass on my appreciation to everyone for their patience over the past couple of months, while the auto-tweeting was cranked into full effect again. I know it must have been a little painful at times, but a lot of good stuff was achieved since the start of February.
The blog had over 130,000 views during that period and, as much as my writing can help, it seemed to reach a lot of people who really needed it, and at just the right time… albeit, the tactics I used made that ‘right time’ about once every twelve hours for older blogs and between 30 minutes and an hour for the newly posted ones.
But anyway… thank you all. Without you, nobody except Keira Knightley and the police would read anything I wrote.
There will be a few more blogs coming before the end of the month – and perhaps a few ‘specials’ now and again - but the blogging is going on the backburner, at least until the Autumn.
This all said, I’m likely to be on Twitter much more when the blogging stops, and actually interacting with people again, rather than chasing my replies and trying to get the schedules loaded before I get to sleeps.
From April onwards, though, I’m going to be concentrating on making some money and dragging myself out of poverty, and there may well be an e-book guide to social networking excellence coming along very soon… that I hope I can plagiarise and pass off as my own.
Also, definitely going to be cracking on with The Wise Boy at last! At least 8 people have promised to buy the finished book, and that’s a cash-cow right there that will see me cool for rice stocks for the next year.
So… that’s my news!
About time....free the tin opener selotaped to the ceiling and let the wise boy live again !!!
ReplyDeleteHehe, yep! Thanks! :-)
DeleteInteresting to read, having only just 'met' you - hmm, well, Les, if I can write novels AND blog, so can you! Joke - I don't have to go out to work - MASSIVE difference! I'm impressed by your enormous following, which, obviously, has inspired me to read the rest of your stuff. Lovely scenery, by the way - reminds me of when I was up in Fort William a month ago. :)
ReplyDeleteThe background is Borrowdale in the Lake District, taken from the Watendlath path, where I used to go meditate when I was working at a hotel in the valley. :-)
DeleteWriting is what I do, now, though I must admit a stable income would be useful - but I'll push on and make it my income as well as my job, which I love. :-)
Hi Les. I made a carefully observed riverside drawing of the 'Jaws of Borrowdale' spot long ago, in a time far far away. I'll see if I can find it.
DeleteNowadays I'm in the same boat as you - writing full time. But I fill the financial space by helping other authors. I'll also have my blog up about two weeks from now. Stand by Sir.
Jonathan
I hope I can take a look at it, Jonathan. It's such a stunning site - it's like the entrance to some mighty fortress. I love Borrowdale. :-)
DeleteI'm intrigued. I look forward to your blog. It would be good to chat!
Sorry to hear there'll be fewer tweets. They have been a nice reliable presence, offering fascinating links - whether I pop in for a brief glance or a long ponder.
ReplyDeleteI rate this blog a lot. (If you glance at my blog - Dimensions Beyond - you'll see you are one of the favoured few included in my list. [It's a bit low down on the right column. Thinks: I should rise the list higher. Good idea. I shall.])
All the best in following your plans!
Ah, thank you, Gerry. I'll be on Twitter a lot more, but just not spamming so much - though thank you so much for bearing with me!
DeleteI'll probably be back to it in the Autumn when I've created a few pages of entirely new links to frustrate and annoy people with!
And thank you so much for the favourite! I shall do the same in a moment! :-)
Your earned a break! BTW, I was born on April Fool's Day in the U. S., explaining a lot about my personality and blog posts. :-)
ReplyDeleteHehe, thanks, Earl! I hope you have a great birthday and nobody plays any tricks on you! :-)
DeleteWill miss u and wish u all the best where ever that path takes you. Take Care - Val
ReplyDeleteI'll still be around on Twitter and will write the occasional blog. Thanks, Val! :-)
